Connect long-term capital to move to a sustainable and decarbonised economy for future generations.
Reduce CO2 Emissions by investing in infrastructure, real estate, companies and technologies.
Invest endowment-style for more attractive returns than traditional asset allocation.
Climate Endowment is a climate-focused investment company employing the multi-asset class endowment style, pioneered by Yale and Harvard university endowments. We aim to achieve both solid long-term risk-adjusted returns and a significant reduction of global CO2 emissions. It was launched by experienced investment professionals and entrepreneurs as an urgent response to the Climate Crisis and to the European voters’ demand for a Green Revolution.
We seek lower risk and lower return investments than most of the private equity industry and aim to cater to the risk profile of more conservative investors. Climate Endowment focuses on investments in scalable platforms with infrastructure / hard asset characteristics based on proven technologies with significantly lower CO2 emissions.
To achieve solid risk-adjusted returns, we invest flexibly across the capital structure via public/private debt/equity and across multiple industries.
We are industry-agnostic but work on a dual target with both a financial hurdle and clear climate target to reduce CO2 and other greenhouse gases.
We want to take part in financing new businesses and construction of additional capacity of low CO2 emission yet sufficiently mature technologies.
We do not want to just acquire second-hand fully-operating assets as this is not a good way to speed up the transition to a low carbon emission economy.
We rather share the construction risk with developers if needed to bring projects faster online and achieve higher returns.
Our team includes several entrepreneurs and engineers from a variety of relevant sectors who enable us to work closer with business and JV partners.
